-
Ride Overview
1.1 Ride Start
The ride is scheduled to commence at 9:00 am, travelling around Lake Macquarie before returning to Speers Point Park, as a coordinated group
1.2 Lead Rider
The ride will be led by Frank (Hearts & Hands) on his orange Can‑Am Spyder, accompanied by his Orange Teddy pillion.
1.3 Group Departure
To minimise disruption to general road users, participants will depart in smaller, manageable groups.
Final group sizes will be determined by registration numbers, with a target of 20 riders or fewer per group.
1.4 Small Group Leaders
Designated small‑group leaders will be positioned throughout the ride.
These leaders will be clearly identifiable by their orange helmet covers.
1.5 Breakaway Procedure
If riders become separated due to traffic lights or other road conditions, the next allocated small‑group leader will assume the lead of that breakaway group and continue to guide them until they either:
-
Rejoin the group ahead, or
-
Arrive at the designated destination assembly point.
1.6 Ride Position
Riders are encouraged to maintain their assigned position within the ride pack from the moment they depart the start point.
1.7 Speed and Road Conduct
-
The ride will travel at posted speed limits at all times.
-
The route is suitable for riders of all skill levels, provided standard group‑riding etiquette is observed.
1.8 Navigation and Corner Management
-
Where required, turns will be supported by temporary signage or visible corner marshals.
-
The route has been planned to include predominantly left-hand turns, reducing the need to cross oncoming traffic.
1.9 Rider Behaviour
All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on:
-
the event organisers
-
The purpose of the ride
-
fellow participants
-
event supporters
-
the broader community and other road users
Unsafe, disrespectful, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
1.10 Road Rules
Riders must obey all applicable road rules and practice share‑the‑road behaviour, demonstrating courtesy and respect toward all other road users.
After-Ride Activities: Stay, Connect & Celebrate
Participants and families are invited to stay after the ride and enjoy a vibrant afternoon of connection and community.
Bring the whole family to enjoy a relaxed lunch, mingle with fellow riders and members of the public, and take part in a range of engaging activities.
Free supervised children’s activities will be available, along with:
