In-Park Family Event
Saturday 12th. September 2026
The Orange Ride 4 Child Protection Awareness (OR4CPa) is a community motorcycle ride paired with a vibrant, family‑friendly in‑park event. It is held each September in recognition of National Child Protection Awareness Day, declared by the Australian Parliament.
Hosted by our volunteer‑run charity, OR4CPa supports our flagship program, Umbrella Hearts, a Child Protection awareness initiative that uses the umbrella as a symbol of safety and orange as the colour of joyful, protected childhood. Participants are encouraged to wear an orange ribbon and umbrella symbol as a visible sign of their commitment to keeping children safe.
OR4CPa has grown into a recognised and celebrated community event. It was named a finalist in the Lake Macquarie Event Awards 2024, received a Highly Commended award in 2025, and has again achieved being a finalist in 2026, reflecting the strong and growing support for our mission.
As participation has expanded, so too need for a permanent home. Lake Macquarie City Council has generously provided a dedicated space, ensuring OR4CPa and its in-park family event can continue to grow, welcome more families, and strengthen Child Protection awareness for years to come.

Opens 1st June
2026 OR4CPa Event Overview
Building on the success of previous years, the 2026 Orange Ride for Child Protection Awareness Event (OR4CPa) will feature a refreshed format designed to enhance accessibility, engagement, and impact for all participants.
Key updates include:
-
Start & finish at the same location
-
Held in a disability-friendly public park
-
Free in-park event with family-friendly displays, food, and activities

Why It Matters
In 2020, over 200,000 Australian children were involved in abuse notifications. For us, one child is too many.
Together, we declare:
-
It’s not OK to hurt a child; every day it’s not OK.
-
It takes a village to raise a child. We are that village.
Let’s break the silence and build a future where children thrive.
